About Us

Paper Kite Farm is a small family Farm in Prince Edward County, on the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg, Wendat and Haudenosaunee People, adjacent to the Kanien’keha:ka community of Tyendinaga.

Back in Montreal, we ran our family's little hotel and cafe for 10 years.  When the pandemic hit, we felt the need to slow down, and be closer to the earth.  We always knew we wanted to homestead, but did not expect it to come so early.

We started our first 3 years building soil at our small acreage on Mitchells Crossroad.  We are now the stewards of what was previously Quinta do Conde, a small farm on Black River, where we continue to use mindful ecological growing practices to grow the Market Garden and Food Forest, along with a small flock of chickens and sheep. The bounty from our land can be found at the Picton Farmer's Market every Summer Sundays, the Farm Store on County Road 16, and through our CSA veggie boxes.

We believe that we can go beyond reducing our footprint, and instead add more biodiversity, sink carbon, and regenerate the land we are privileged to cultivate. Through these principles, we hope to build a relationship with the land, learn about all her needs, and leave it better than when we found it.

We looking forward to sharing our bounty with you,

Judy and Hans
